FGLRX + Compiz-Fusion + Dual-Screen: UPDATE

Well I’m still running on the ATI FGLRX 8.443 driver set, though one major thing has changed: I no longer use compiz-fusion. Nor any other composite manage for that matter. While pretty window decorations, wobbly windows and a rotating cube desktop are all very cool (and decently fast) there were too many usability downsides to keep working with it.

As I said, it was stable and mostly everything worked. But it wasn’t 100% stable and there were a few interface glitches and bugs that I just couldn’t stand. To see how I got it working in the first place, go here. The issues I found after the jump.

Those of you who know me know that I love the piano. I’m not exactly the best player in the world but I make do somehow. As most people, I need some notes to read so I know what to play. Any like most other’s I’ve checked many places, bought some books and spent monies on sheet music.

Here’s something to save you a penny or two. On new section of my page (see above link) Sheet Music I have posted links to several of the sites that I use to gather sheet music online, for free!

Yup, it’s all free and there. There are other places of course, but these are the ones that I currently know of. As I find more I’ll update the site as need be

Blogging about WoW

A while ago I was asked if I played World of Warcraft, to which I sadly answered yes. Because we all know that playing WoW makes you go blind. I was informed that a gaming ‘research’ group was being formed and they wanted me to partake in it. I was thrilled at the chance to write more stuff off on taxes! Yes, you can (I hope) write research, assuming it’s legitimate research, can be written off on taxes … which rocks!

After a slow shaky start, we finally had things rolling. We had a website up (http://ujima.com/gamingresearch) , everyone started blogging about the experiences and everyone was online. There was one problem though. I was playing WoW for a short while before the research group even got together. So when we started … I was above level 30 and everyone else was either level 1 or still somewhere down there. This led to several obvious problems.

I don't think WP SEO is all about just the 'SEO'. I'm rather sure a good part of it is the actual design of the page. Of course the keywords, tags and everything like that is important. Though it's also important how the site looks.

If it weren't the case, no one would ever change their design. Also, you would never hear such a thing like "The new site redesign increased our conversion by 15%". Thus, looks have to be a important and integral part of SEO.

So what makes a good SEO design? That is a darn good question. I'd sure like to find it out. Until I know how, I'm going to go by the idea that functionality is the most important aspect. Also, I'm looking at some of the blogs from the top marketers and trying to integrate their designs into my blog.

Hope this turns into a nice business venture. Yey for 'another' social media platform that we'll have to use.
