GoGenerator’s Header Generator Review
The problem with most people is that they aren’t graphics designers so it can be rather difficult and time consuling to produce a banner. It only gets worse when you have to create many header banners for many websites. That can get rather expensive in time and in money if you employ a graphics designer. Even if you try to produce it yourself it can easily get very difficult to put all the pieces together. You’ll spend hours hours trying to create a banner only to end up with something that isn’t even sellable. Today’s internet demands perfection, so you need professional looking graphics.
Header Generator (by Go Generator) aims to simplify the whole process for the general public. The program is very simple to use, much simpler than many other programs I have seen online. Unlike many other tools Header Generator takes you through the Step by Step process of creating a good website banner.
First off, let me tell you about what Header Generator is and isn’t. It isn’t a fully fledged graphics editor like Photoshop, Coral Draw, or Gimp. It also doesn’t create any copy (text) for you, that of course you have to think of yourself and then add it using Header Generator. Header Generator uses the KISS principle: Keep It Simple Stupid. So don’t go expecting to create the MonaLisa with it. It also isn’t a big program. The program itself takes up less than 1MB of space. Keeping it rather efficient, its simple by design making it very easy for you without much overhead.

It contains step by step instructions for everything you would ever need to do with it. It comes with over 300 templates for you to use and design with. It is in essence a simple program that guides you through the whole process.
The default installation path is “C:\Program Files\Header Generator”, and you have the option for a menu icon and a desktop icon. I selected both for ease of use. Upon starting the program, it might (depending on your computer speed) flash a quick screen about checking for updates.
Now I know many of you worry about automatic updates and the programs sending out ‘personal information’, well you don’t have to worry here. Header generator doesn’t do that, all it is checking for is a new version of the program, really. That’s it. There is also a button/link in the program to have it check for an update.
Once the program is started, you are greeted by a friendly screen with instructions. There are three (3) steps to creating website banners with Header Generator:
1) “Choose a background for your new Banner”
2) “Make the banner yours by adding text to it”. In this step you can add/edit text and your own graphics.
3) “Save the banner to your hard drive”.
Here are two example header graphics that come with Header Generator.
That simple, and if you think I’m simplifying it I’m not. To prove it to you I’m going to create a simple (and quick) website header banner with you right now for a fake product. For this example I picked the “head cashwallet” image. Looks pretty spiffy for a money or finance e-book! Clicking next brings us to a edit screen.
Our fake product is called “Ultimate Faux Finance Book”, so we’ll add it here. We click the “Add Text” button, this brings up a text editing screen.
Here we enter our title. Note though, it doesn’t do a ‘live update’ so you have to update something (like checking and de-checking the Bevel box) in-order to have the new text show. I do know that I don’t want blue text (default color), because I have a blue background so I’ll change it to … let’s say white. I select white and click “Ok”.
The text is placed nicely out of the way just in case if I had other things there. I can now click and drag the text to the position I want. Then I click somewhere on the checkered area (basically clicking somewhere that is not on a text or image object) and deselect the text so I can preview it.
So far it’s looking pretty good, though I want to text to have a bit more zest and pop. So I click once on the text and then click “Edit Text”. Under “Extra Options” I click ‘Change Font’. This part is all up to you really. Usually you want to pick a font that is easily readable, so for my money book I’m going to pick something elegant and readable. I chose “Prestige Elite STD” and made it Bold Italic. You might not have that font, but that’s ok. Pick anything you want that will match your needs. I also re-aligned the text to make it seem to fit better.
After changing the font, I decided that there is space in there to put some text so I moved it up. Some interesting extra copy might be “The Best Faux Money Secrets Revealed” … or something. I’ll make it a bit smaller and a different (matching) color. It didn’t exactly fit like I wanted so I also squished it a little bit.
This is probably a good time to mention that the text objects (and images) are resizable! So you can click and drag on the dashed border of an object and resize it. Neat useful feature in my opinion.
All that is left now to is to stick in some website information and a place for a home link.
I think that’s pretty good for a fake product don’t you? Alright, almost finished. Clicking `Next’ on the bottom of the screen. Woot, time to save! Very big “Save Your Banner” button. It’s big because this is a very VERY important step! So, save it to a good location. I saved it to my Desktop. Do NOT click ‘Close’ until you save your banner. If you want to make any changes to your banner now is the time because you will not be able to do it later.
And here you have it, my faux product faux banner! See! Easy!
Header Generator is pretty darn cheap and it’ll save you loads of money. You can check it out and get it here, at Go Generator’s Header Generator website.
I give Header Generator a 4 out of 5 stars. I’d give it a 5/5 but I think the interface could be just a little bit better. Overall though it’s a great program for those who do not want to mess with big bulky programs. Header Generator will give you a very simple interface and a VERY easy way to create great looking website banners!
Check it out here for yourself. It’ll be worth your while.
