Top 5 Tips For Better Writing OverallMarci Alboher wrote a interesting piece on Shine Yahoo about improving your writing skill. Marci attended a convention hosted by Constance Hale, a writing guru. Marci asked Alboher for several tips on how to improve writing in all phases of life.

            1. Write in English, not Jargon.
            2. Use specific, concrete nouns.
            3. Pick action-packed verbs.
            4. Avoid fluff.
            5. Find the right pitch.

Pretty good points to go by. When you read the full descriptions and explanations on the site it will make a plethora more sense. It’ll be a good idea to print out the list and keep it close for future refence.

One thing that is mentioned that I believe needs to be emphasized: Drafts. Use drafts. They will help you weed out bad sentences, catch misspellings and greatly improve your tone in the paper. I don’t know of any great speech in that was completely ‘off the top’ of anyones head. Good things take time and preparation.

Happy drafting :)
